Hey Every1,
Im rebuilding my m40 engine and want to clean the heavy carbon deposits from the head of the pistons as well as the valve heads. I have been told to use carb cleaner or oven cleaner, does anybody know if using these would work ok without damaging? or does anybody have any tried and tested methods of removing carbon deposits from pistons ?
cheers guys

The best tip i can give you if you're cleaning the valves is: get some kettle descale powder and an old pan and use this to simmer the calves (after degreasing) to remove the hard beige deposits without trauma!
