I have a set of E30 sports seats fitted to my 4dr. The seat moves around slightly as the the seatback is loose which is annoying when you're going round a corner... the seat is definitely tightened up onto the floor, anyone got any ideas?
Thnks.

Remove the plastic cover on the seatback, that's held by two phillips screws right at the bottom and two sliding clips at the top.

Then look for two large phillips screws near the base of the seat cushion and check that they are tight.

No improvement? Remove the two large phillips screws and lift the backrest off,and check that the bit that those two screws attach to is intact. These hinge units have a tendency to break at this point,I have a broken one that I swapped off a seat some time ago and I keep meaning to see if it's possible to weld them as a repair!

had this on my seat, and me and adit fixed it the other day, the bracket bit on one side where the screw goes in had snapped, and moved about , so replaced the whole seat mechanism bit there, bit of a fiddly job but not too difficult, feels a lot better to have it fixed

If it is just a loose phillips head screw, add a little loctite as a preventative

Yep, had this problem and the bracket had snapped. Got a friend to weld it up for me and haven't had a problem since
