Hi chaps, got a bit of a prob with my rear demister, switch works, fuse okay, power at the tracks on either side but it still doesnt work, what should the resistance be across the screen? Thanks guys, winters almost here and I'm gonna need it.

All the tracks across the screen are independant of each other, so if you can measure 12V across the two vertical tracks at the sides (the actual tracks, not the connectors), then it looks like something fairly catastrophic has happened to your screen during the summer, that has severed all the tracks. (Wife/GF cleaningt he glass?).
Breaks can be repaired using a silver loaded epoxy paste, but if the're all gone, then a carefully checked screen from a scrappy is the ay forward.
Test a screen by applying 12V across it, and measuring the voltage on every track half way across. Should be 6V. Don't damage the tracks with the meter probe!

Cover meter prob's with alu foil may help this!

seems to be pot luck if you buy an e30 and you have one that works, my 320i`s screen never worked, and the 325 i scrapped didn`t either, the 325 i have now does have one that fully works though :D
