My E30 seems to start up fine when its not been driven for a while, but when its running warm.. it takes at least a few attempts to start? This gets highly embarrassing when I've just got petrol and I have to sit there attempting to start the engine numerous times :?

The fault I believe it is, is the blue temp sensor. However could it be a fuel related problem?

Please let me know what you guys reckon the problem is soon, as I really need to get this sorted.

haha top secret 8)

google E30 (your model) hot or warm restart.. i dont remember off hand but i think there was mention of something in the fuel system, coolant temp is a possibility also but id like to think if the CTS was going wonky when the engines warm u would be noticing a lack of power or drivability problems when the car warms and not just hot restart problems.

if u have acess to a pressure gauge and can test fuel pressure there should be about 20psi in the system after u shut the car off and it should stay 20psi for a while, dont remember off the top of my head but should stay at about 20psi for atleast 10 mins, i think more like 20 mins but dont quote me on that.

btw im assuming this is an 88-91 M20 here.. might be a little different for M42 or older M20, etc.

If you are replaceing the blue temp sensor get it from bmw, i got 1 from euro car parts and lasted about a month then went wrong again, i then got 1 from bmw at £21.97 and havnt had problems since, mine is the 325 though and not a top secret :bmw:
