My Touring has a BMW alarm fitted, took it for a run on Monday, hasn't been started for a few weeks. The alarm now omits a high pitch whine, the only way to stop it, is to turn the siren off with the small special key supplied, has anyone got any ideas on this?

How long run" did you take the car for, maybe your battery needs a good charge and the alarm is 'warning' you of this?

About a 100 mile run, its had a new Battery about 6 months ago, the car gets driven mainly at weekends, as its garaged during the week, I don't arm the alarm then.

The battery has tags on it that are soldered to wires, but if the battery has leaked and contaminated the circuit board, the repair won't be successful. I haven't repaired one of these for years, because there's usually only one remote fob to go with it, and that's usually in less than pristine condition, and for less than the price of a single replacement fob a new, modern and much physically smaller alarm can be purchased, complete with two fobs.
The batteries I used for the ones I have repaired were intended as replacement batteries for emergency escape lights (the type that come on automatically in public buildings if the power fails), and would have been bought from CPC Farnell.
