update found it!! - strange knocking - front left i think

as the post says- a strange tapping noise - intermittent , some days yes some days no , and if i change speed it speeds up and dissapears any ideas what this could be? funny thing is when i touch the plastic on the dash in the passenger well to the left of the obc i am sure i can feel the tapping???

edit- so stripped the dash and you would not believe what it is - there is a chunky enough white valve in the heating system beside the glove box and behind the obc and stuff - for some reason it is sensitve to acceleration and when you do accelerate it ticks/knocks really loud - as if it is opening and closing like made or maybe stuck in one postion and trying to move to the other? do not ask how it is sensitve to the engine as i am bogled as to why.

suffice to say i have an intermittent heating system in the car and would love to know if anyone knows what that valve is does?!

well maybe its just the resonance i feel in the dash....
has anyone any ideas at all?

Could be one of soooooo many things it's impossible to say...

Does the tapping pick up with road speed or engine speed?

where are you located, maybe someone could take a look for you...
