i'am currently building my E30 into a stock car for next year, problem being the formula states carb only, now my E30 is 1800cc on injection.
Can i get a carb and inlet manifold from a m40 1600 and bolt it on???, if so i guess the ecu would be useless, so would i need ignition parts and or ecu from a carb engine?
thanks
m40 carb and ignition question

All M40's were injected, as stated above. It was it's predecessor, the M10B18 that came as both injected and carb.
If you convert a M40 to carb., you will still need to retain the ECU for spark purposes. No problem in doing it, if you can find a suitable manifold for your chosen carb.
I run a M40 on a carburettor of a kind at the moment - it runs on LPG with a single point mixer in the inlet pipework. Would your regs permit this?

Probably ignition component related.
As Brian says, ^ I wouldnt get home if I had this problem.dil1986 wrote:any1 have any idea why my m10 carbed wont go over 3000+ revs ?

M10 engine was fitted to all pre facelift four pot E30's, and the very first facelifted models.
The carbed E30 model was the 316, which was actually just under 1800cc.

It's a M10 engine he wants! For competition use.psychochild187 wrote:i have a m10 carb here if you need one
The last thing he'll want to bolt to it is the standard Pierburg carb!
I suspect a pair of side draught Webers is more what he has in mind.
