Dash display...

Hey guys as i am a total novice to 318's on the instrument panal on your dash whats the little sign that looks like this mean

( !) any ideas cause i am worried about it

handbrake light?!?!?
or it also tells you when you brake sensors are not relaying.

not the hand brake one thats a ( p ) there is one in brackets that is for the brake discs to show when they are wearing and one of the cables is caught in the caliper so it doesnt read right any way. but this one i dont have a clue i have checked through haynes manual but nothing on the dash display. cant find any pictures of it and cant upload my pics i took..... Damnit

Brake sensor, N/S/F, the only one on there

owners manual says as follows

fog light/emmission related indicator light and electronic shift control indicator

makes sod all sense to me but thats what the book says

more info for you guessing yours is an auto?

note. electronic shift control (i) comes on if electronic shift control circuit has failed.
the transmission selects third gear irrespective of the selector lever position. the car can be driven normally.consult the nearest bmw dealer (avoid high engine loads).
before leaving the car make sure the gear selector lever is engadged in park and set the the parking brake.
unexpected and possibly sudden vehicle movement may occur if these precautions are not taken.

will go have a look at mine and see if it has same symbol?

well just checked 3 sets of clocks and they all have that light panel but iv never ever seen it lite up?and dosent come on with ignition?
very strange as cant see how or why it would be wired up in a manual makes no sense mate

hmm dont know either it always comes up with ignition but usually goes out mines a left hooker german import ( with no manual about the car) i really couldn't tell you Oh btw the distributor i will send ou the postal tomorrow ok m8y got all your address did u say Ԛ£14 posted?

If this is a red light with an exclamation mark in a circle and ( ) around it, then it's the brake fluid level light.
