On sunday my '90 320i started then died! We messed around for a bit didnt really do any thing and about 20 mins later it started,
Monday I got in it and it started fine, drove about 5/6 miles turned it off then it wouldnt start again? went back to the car about an hour later and it started fine????

Anyone got any idea what the problem is? Someone said it could be the fuel pump realy getting too hot?

Check that you have 12v at the coil with ignition on.
Check that you have 12v out of the main relay at BOTH output terminals (87) with ignition on.
Check that you have 12v at the fuel pump when cranking the motor over.

Use a 12v bulb to check for power.
Got power at all above, I banged the top of the fuel pump with the handle of a hammer and it started? So Im guessing its the pump thats had it?
