Can it be swapped for an E30 one?

Cheers

Yes, it will bolt up to the E30, getting the engine and ARB on is another matter

Asked this the other day in another thread with a few other bits about Retro-fitting some bits from other E30's and had no reply. So I went outside and tried it.

The E36 engine mounts bolt further back than the E30 one, the wishbones would fit, if they were 3inches longer and further forwards.

Its not worth the hassle. BMW changed the design for the M50.

Cheers guys.

I asked for 2 reasons:

I'll be putting an E36 P/S rack on soon and thought I may as well change the front subframe whilst I'm at it.

also, my subframe is looking a little tatty, and was thinking I could save cleaning it up.

Oh well.

Cheers

The engine sits about 100mm further back on the E36 subframe, you would need to give the bulkhead some angle grinder action
