help e30 cab electric roof out of sink

hi hpoe someone can help i have e30 convertible 1989 my hood is out of sink the rear flap will not pull back far enough to allow the hood to come out instead it catches on the flap i do know there is a sequence in resetting the motors+timing can anyone help thanks
