Hi guys I think my 93' 316i sounds quite tappety so how was wondering how easy they were to adjust and if anyone could explain how or have a link to somewhere that does, thanks

they are hydraulic I believe so no adjustment going on there fella.

Could be a leaky exhaust manifold gasket, hold a piece of paper near it (whist trying to avoid the wind from the viscous fan) and see if there is any evidence of is fluttering.

Injectors can get "ticky", a clean or replacement ones will solve that.

But the most likely specimen with a M40 lump which is tappy at the top is often a worn camshaft. Make sure the oil is in good order and there is evidence that the oil is actually getting to the top of the engine.
