I had to jump start the M3 this morning, had a barbecue over the weekend and some dozy sod had left the door open for 48hrs :-x

It fired up no problem and went for a quick spin and noticed the ABS light won't go out :?

Is the ABS relay knackered ??

I've searched the zone wiki and this is what it's telling me.

Has anyone got one that will work for an1988 m3 ???

Cheers.

Worth cleaning the sensors first. It's the most common fault.

what does the ABS light do:

1. come on with ignition and stay on? - ABS relay/fuses to be checked
2. go off after starting then come on once moving - sesnor or sensor wiring

the relay has a diode that protects the circuit from over voltages, jump starting can cause this to fail.

I think it's the ABS relay too, fuses checked - I'm going to swap the relay over from my touring and try it.

Anyone got a ABS relay

In that case you have almost certainly blown the ABS over voltage protection relay.
On a RH drive E30 it's silver in colour, and clipped to some metalwork just above and to the right of the ABS ECU.

Any idea's on the location on the M3 ??

I've had a look under the scuttle on the pass side and found 3 relays - black, silver and yellow.
