Been out and about for the whole day start stop a few times, and earlier tonight I parked up, came back out in 10 mins and tried to start the car with no success.
It just kept turning over and over but wouldn't fire up.
I put some more petrol in just incase but that didn't solve it, i managed to get it started for about 30 seconds where it ran rather lumpy and quietly and even though i had my foot flat on the pedal it was just slowly faffing away.
Have checked the fuses and all are fine. Not sure what else to check. It's a m20b20, facelift 1988 saloon.
I'm guessing it could be a fuelling problem? Going to look at it tomorrow morning, as I need it for work in the evening desperately
Engine not firing

Fuel pump would be a good start, twice in the past I've had this, cars been fine, then you go start it and it refuses point blank, both thimes fuel pump was at fault.

X5 V8 for thrills, CRV for chills, Range Rover P38 V8 for sooooo much aggravation...

Fuel pump makes sense as there was no noise of a pump when i turned the ignition on. This isn't a particularly hard task by the looks of it from checking it in the haynes.
Has anyone got one for sale on here? Also if i do have to buy a new one anyone know which one they'd recommend?

speak to Spadge hes local to you and I'm pretty sure hell have one. lift the base of the rear seat. drivers side theres a black cover remove this and check the pump. make sure theres power going to it when your cranking the engine over as could be the dme relay which would cause the pump to shut down aswell. but my money is on the pump. sometimes you can remove them give it a bang and it will work for a week or so

Alright thanks i'll send him a PM, just went to go and check it and move it off my drive for some space (Which is on a slope) by starting it in gear and it fired up. Although it looks as if the rear bench has been removed before as it hadn't been put on properly so I think you're right in saying it's the pump but i'll check all the connections incase one's loose or something.
