Hi,
Drove of with Beemer this morning and for some reason the steering lock didn't fully disengage. Anyway I turned the wheel with a considerable amount of force, at which point the steering lock disengaged. However I twisted the top bit of the steering column. Now the plastic steering column trim, the indicator and washer switch all sit at an angle of about 30 degree.
I took the cover off, and now I have discovered that I have twisted the cast aluminum piece that is pressed on the steering column. It is also slightly loose now and I can twist it left/right by about 10 degree. Sadly the 10 degree movement is not enough to get it all lined up again.
What are my options?
I assume the aluminum part is pressed on? or is it held by a pin or similar? I see anything immediately obvious.
Any advice on what to do next would be appreciated. I really would like to have it all back straight, as it is irritating when the indicator is at the wrong angle...
Cheers
