Hi, i have a delphin grey 320i coupe & its a dream to drive but not when it doesnt want to start in the mornings. Iv changed all 6 plugs, the dissy cap, new ignition leads, new ignition coil, 2nd hand idle control valve and even tuned the CO. This made all the differance and the car was okay for a while, but now the problems back. The engine turns over and nothing happens, slightly open the throttle and it sounds as if its firing on one or maybe two cylinders. Open the throttle full at this point and the all 6 fire up, but sometimes it can also take abit of fiddling with the throttle (closing n slightly opening) to fire it up. Please could you help me as this is very frustrating. Many thanks...... Aj

Had the same problem with my 1988 320i.

I swapped the complete fuel rail with injectors pressure regulator and wiring harness for a used one of a 320i with only 50.000 miles on the clock. Now it starts without any hassle, I only have to "catch it"with the throttle when it fires from cold (starts in uder 2 seconds, but dies if I don't hold the revs on the throttle for a second or so). When hot it fires after 3-4 seconds, no throttle needed. Not perfect but it works fine.

I'm going to see if a new Idle control valve can't fix it so I don't have to catch it.

Remember to clean the harness connector with some contact spray before fitting new part.
Why is there not enough time to do it right, but allways enough time to fix the errors - I borrowed that, just so reallistic in my line of work.
