couple of problems

hey guys had my bmw 318 for a while now and its playing up like a beatch, sometimes it drives great others its a pain in the hole, i understand the 318's can be a bit of a pain and im just looking for some advice,

first: idel speed can fluctuate quiet alot like between 700 revs and 1500 revs and other times it can be ok

second, the idel control valve rattles when the ignition is switch on, do i need a new one is this what is affecting the first one

third, this one baffels me the gearbox, a year ago i had to get a new slave cylinder fitted, since then from time to time it can be really hard to get into or out of gear, if i put it in to reverse it feels like the cluch is closing up and gets stuck in gear, i thought this may be down to air in the system but not sure

just looking for sum advice, anything would be appreciated

first one sounds like an air leak in the induction side of things

second one i would say try a new one and see if its any different

and last but not least it could be the master cylynder or as you say just air in the system
