Hi

We all know that the check light flases until you press the brake, it then should go off if all's well.

Right, soon as the car is switched on the check light is on permanently but you can see it flashing brighter until the brake is pressed. Once the brake is pressed the brighter flashing stops but the light remains on. The above computer shows no fault.

The vehicle had an engine diagnostic check where no faults where found, so assume its just an electrical malfunction somewhere.

Can anybody suggest anything?? The instrument cluster has been changed but its still the same.

Any comments or suggestions gratefully received....Apart from 'remove the bulb'

Thanks

Have you reset the lights on the dash, not sure if they're linked or it could be telling you to check the brakes as the light is not going out when depressing the pedal.

Sounds like the check control unit with the buttons and LEDs up in the roof.
Haven't come across this particular fault before, but it is prone to various other similar problems.
Loads of small diodes and transistors inside. Probably a leaky or S/C one somewhere.

Ive reset the inspection lights in the dash which doesnt help matters. The unit in the roof seems to be ok, all LED's seem to be fine.

I'll change the control unit in the boot then now i know it exists..... thanks guys, appreciated.

If all else fails looks like a credit card visit to dealer...... :cens:
