Write in something vaguely resembling English, and you may get helpful replies!pepperami wrote:when in gear bit of a cold ass on moning any advice
Also, check the bottom row of your keyboard for useful things like commas, full stops and a shift key.

Make sure you have a genuine BMW oil filter fitted and you're not using some cheap crap to save £5. Cheap filters can be restrictive and will starve your engine of oil pressure and kill it eventually!

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?

I also have the same thing at the mo, when my car is cold its not on but when it get to tempture the oil can light which is the oil pressure ? starts to flicker on and off but if i rev the car either in idle or driving in gear it stays off......i`m guesing its the oil pump as i`v changed the switch and this weekend its had a oil and filter change.

BMW state that it's acceptable for the oil light to just flicker on at idle on a hot engine.
(That's BMW's opinion, not mine!)

I was told to only use BMW filters by someone I respect who has nothing to gain from me using them. BMW M20 oil filter is 10 or 11 quid. . . might just be folklore. Perhaps Brian could add his knowledgeRanchero wrote:Seriously? I've just put a non-BMW filter on my car. Please tell me you're overstating the case.
Ps) A warmed up M20's idle oil pressure is just over 10psi.
