removing carpets

i seem to have wet carpets, i believe its the metal grommets that need sorting so i need to remove the carpets, theres a tonne of water in the car - noticed because i had a passenger and they went SQUELCH, and a huge puddle emerged from where the grommet is on the passenger side - so im talking BUCKETS!! - so i need to remove the carpet and fix the holes somehow - so how easy is it ? before i attack the car with spanners
It's bloody hard work but not too bad. You'll need another set of hands.
I'll admit that I bodged it a little (not that you'd notice really). To get my old carpet out I cut a slit from the steering colum to the top of the carpet and also widened the hole around the accelerator pedal so it (the carpet) would slide over it.
I managed to leave the heater matrix in and me and my bro just pulled like crazy to get the carpet out.
When it came to putting my replacement carpet in, there was already a cut by the steering column, I just shortened the carpet a bit where it goes under the heater so I didn't have to remove it. You can't see it.
You're supposed to remove the steering column and the heater and remove the accelerator pedal (you'll need to buy a new one as apparently once it's off, it's off).
Took us 4 hours to remove it all (being careful as I'm no spanner monkey and I was terrified of buggering something up!) and about the same to put it back in. I just needed help in putting the carpet in straight. I managed to put all the other bit's back in on my own (seats, console etc).

I just popped my throttle pedal out with a pry bar (after removing the top circlip!)
. I think it had been out before for welding but the clips came out in tack. Been put back in and been driving it for a month now with no problems at all!

i had one were the floor was full of water i pulled all the carpit up and there was no holes i didnt know were it was coming from untill i opened the sun roof and saw the water chanals had rusted and the water was running down the inside of the trim and flooding the floor
