Hi chaps,

Recently my 316 auto, when accelerating, judders like it is being choked. It seems so do it in phases, i.e. sometimes it will do it every time i accelerate and other times it wont do it at all for a while. The car has also cut out twice.
I gave it a service (oil, oil filter, spark plugs, air filter) but this has made no difference to the problem.
I have searched on here and found people with similar issues but they dont seem to mirror mine.

Also, soon before this started happening, when idling the revs would drop to about 600rpm and then shoot up to 1500 which it still does.

Any help appreciated.

I think i have managed to borrow a replacement AFM to try in the meantime.

Cheers, Pete

On the M40 engine, this is usually due to distributor cap/rotor arm/ spark plug problems.

Check that the throttle position switch is doing what it should.
