Got my kit and all the bits and pieces of dave, spent a weekend fitting the new rack, lots and lots of hardship from it.

One of the main things being that the linkage was fouling the manifold :(

Had it in/out a good few times before I had rounded of the linkage enough for it not to touch the manifold.

All seemed well untill the other day going round a long left hander with a bit of speed when I noticed the linkage was making hitting, steering stil seemed ok though but not happy with it.

Anyone any suggestion as to how to get a little more space between the 2? I'll try and get some pics tomorrow so you can see how close it is. (Dave said he's look into it to so I'll point him here once I get pics up).

Any other M42 owners with a E46 rack, what did you do if you had problems?

Actually just thinking about it.

Only reason I know it's hitting the manifold is because of the noise. Bit like a fan that hitting of something, we had this with the heater in an old car. Only I'm not sure if there was more resistance to the steering or not, was surprised to be able to steer with not to much hassle.

Can the heater fans wear out a bit and hit something when cornering? Pretty sure it was the steering linkage though.
