As title really, do these LSD's need oil with friction modifiers?
Also what grade should I be going for bearing in mind the diff will be getting some track abuse :)

Dan, if its of the T1 type, then a standard 80W90 GL5 gear oil is recommended. Do NOT
use an oil with additives designed to reduce gear friction with this type of diff. If, however, it is of the T2R type, which includes a clutch-pack, then I have no idea.

I asked Quaife about this for my Z3 diff and they recomended any good quality gear oil to the manufacturer's spec- don't use clutch or plate type LSD oil.

Ahh, it is a Z3 diff so T1 type I assume. Most fully synths seem to be 75W90 so will bung some of that in it :thumb:

Have you driven with the Torsen type diff yet Dan? How do you find it if so?

I was interested in fitting one to my S50 car, but they're a bit rare/expensive to get hold of just to try it against my 3.15 MCoupé diff!
