Dangling Suspension Strut

During the recent snowy conditions I detected a grinding/clunking noise from the rear passenger side. My car is lowered 60mm all round and now post grinding noise have noticed the back end sliding out especially when going over bumpy surfaces and general poor handling.

Now that the snow has gone I've been out with the torch and the rear passenger side suspension strut is dangling loose completely detached from where it is supposed to be. I'm trying to find out which section of the wheel it would have been connected to. I also cannot see the rear caliper on said wheel and am concerned that the whole lot has fallen off.

What would a suspension strut (bottom end) ordinarily be bolted onto?

Am concerned I am driving a death trap - any help would be appreciated

Bottom of strut located as below;



Did you hit something, would take alot to rip that lot off

If caliper fell off surely you would have noticed the brakes not performing anymore?

Thanks for the pic, which part is the bottom end of the strut connected to because its not there anymore!

From the picture you can see the bottom of the damper, the other two fixing holes you see are for the brake caliper.

All of this is part of the rear trailing arm, if broken you have no choice but to change the rear trailing arm
