Is the additional loom for a switchable autobox plug'n'play or does the whole car loom need to be changed?

I'm not sure I follow. It plugs in, but needs re-wiring?

There can't be much loom to it Theo and i expect it can be removed. From memory the switchable loom plugs into the engine loom by the engine ECU, thats what those 2 black and white plugs are for.
It runs to the boot where the box ECU lives, plugs into your switchable switch on the consol. Broken a few over the years but never thought to take the loom out!

An additional part is the connector and loom for the EH auto TPS.
These are the hardest parts to swap as they are conjoined with the main engine loom.

Thanks for the replies, I have all the parts from my rotten 325i switchable auto in perfect working order. Sounds like there's little difference in workload whether fitting the whole car loom or transfering the relevant wiring over. I do really have changing car looms though
