The clock in my E30 is driving me mad! Whenever I turn the ignition on it defaults to showing the outside temperature (which is broke and always shows a chilly -22Ԛ°F  ) I have to then press the "Hour" button to bring the clock up on the display - then when I stop the car and come back it has defaulted back to temperature... I have tried every combination of buttons to make the clock stay all the time to no avail!

Can anyone help me? A scanned version of the handbook with all the functions and how to operate them would be even better! 8)

Cheers!

Here is a pic of the clock - its in a 1990 316i Lux...

I think the problem is the broken temp' function. If the computer thinks it's -22 outside then this is always going to be the first thing it shows you, as a warning. Do you have the audible gong fitted? If so that probably sounds whenever you start the car?

was the clock retro fitted? If it has no gong and no temp' sensor chances are it was. The gong should be fitted to the panel above the driver's knees, under the steering wheel. The temp' requires a seperate loom leading to a sensor in the front left (?) airduct.
