hey guys, my steering rack has started to leak, and I wont get a chance to fix it for the next couple of weeks (work commitments means I need my car), so I was hoping to remove the power steering pump belt (and drive without power steering) until I get a new steering rack fitted somehow.
Problem is, I can find the adjusting nut for the power steering pump (I want to slacken the pump to remove the belt) but I cant find the pivot bolt anywhere....the haynes manual I have isnt worth sh1t when it comes to this..
Can someone give clear precise instructions on where to find the pivot bolt for the power steering pump

thanks
P.S. if anybody has a steering rack for sale (in working order) give me a shout pls...

The adjuster on the pump is a rack and pinion so just loosen the retaining nut about 1 turn and then wind the larger nut so that it pushes the pump towards the engine and remove the belt.
The pivot bolt on the bottom can be left as it is as long as it's not seized to the bracket.
If you drain the steering fluid it may make the steering lighter
(i've never tried it) and it may ruin the seals in the rack, but if thats where it's leaking from then thats no loss.
If you can't adjust the pump in enough then just cut the belt there only a couple of quid.

There is NO nucleus.
