Electrical problem

The problem is my rear light. The bulb is fine but the fuse was blown so i put a new one in and this has blown to (straight away), i did this 3 times and they all blew. Has any one got any ideas wat the problem could be and how to fix it?

it has become a pain in the ass

You must have a short circuit in the wiring. First try removing the affected bulb and then fit a fuse. If this does not blow it is the bulb or the bulb holder. If the fuse blows again it is in the wiring or switch.

Not quite sure what you mean here. If the fuse for one of the rear lights (tail light?) is blown then the front/parking light will be out as well, so why are you assuming the fault is at the rear?
What number fuse is blown? 22 or 23?

Its fuse 22. Its a 318is and there is no front parking light on this model. (that i know ov)

mine is a 325i and the fuse is a 7.5 which also controls my dash lights
ive tried new fuses and bulbs but still no joy

i find it weird that both of us has the exact same fault.
my 325 has no park light either.

anyway if any one has any ideas please let us know

I had a short in the circuit that runs the reversing lights, rev counter, check control and it was due to the wire that runs by the gearstick through to the gearbox switch having got rubbed against the metal edge and splitting.

Not sure if thsi is the same circuit tho.

Fuse 22 is for the left side rear light and fronr parking light. The number plate lights and the instrument lights are all on 23, so that eliminates a fair bit of wiring.
You must have front parking lights - the car wouldn't get through MOT without them. They are located right at the top of the dipped headlamps, in the form of a little lever sticking up just behind the headlamp surrounds.
You have a short to the car bodywork somewhere along the relevant wire, which should be green or grey and yellow. If you have a light check control fitted the last part of the wire to the tail light should be green or grey and blue.
The wire in question runs from the light switch, has branches to the indicator switch for the parking position, runs up to the check control if fitted, runs along behind the dashboard, along the left hand inner wing, and along the left hand cill into the boot. The short could be anywhere, but check at the lamps first.
If a check control is fitted, pull the plug from the rear lights check control module (left hand side of the boot behind trim) and see if the fuse blows then. If it doesn't, then the fault is in the rear light section of the loom. If it still does, the fault is before this module.

Thanks everyone for your help. I have eventually found the problem. I found that it was to do with the front left headlight there was a wire that was split and the wire was touching the frame and was sparking whitch caused it to blow the fuse. It was to do with the parking light whitch i didnt realise the car had (by clicking the indicator down twice turns it on ha ha i didnt know this) because the frnt is connected to the back.
