Hi folks.
Just wondering if its a straight swap changing from a power rack to a manual.??
Or are there any bits ill need to make the manual rack fit in place of a power rack..[On a 91 plate 320]...
Also can anybody tell me if theres any difference in the lock to lock ratio betwen a power / manual rack.??
Thanks.
Steering rack swap, power to manual.???

The manual rack is slower than a power rack.

Thats interesting.
Maybee ill just dissconect the pipes + remove the power pump then...
The last thing i want to do is make tha already slow rack, even slower....
PS. The car is being transformed into a PBMW car.. thats the reason for the info....

I've not done this myself, but those that 'know stuff' dont usually recommend it due to lubrication issues...maybe do a search in the Tech section on here? I know it's been covered before.

You wont have any problems, drain it properly, pull back the boots and work plenty of grease into the rack. Just blank the ports off to keep any dirt out.
There are loads of track cars using power racks in this way

Are you not allowed to do an E36 rack conversion for PBMW racing, or are you more interested in gaining bhp by removing the pump?

Thanks for the words of wisdom...
sihooker.
No you have to run a E30 rack...+ yes its to loose weight + gain bhp with the pump + assosiated belts removed...
