Hello everyone, i'm new to beemers, and this forum, and the internet too, so you'll have to bear with me a bit as i get to grips. Here's my question. The gearbox in my 325 makes a whirring noise as i select 2nd while the clutch is in and whines when i let the clutch out before applying revs, the noise fades as the load increases. All other gears are silent. Should i get it looked at? or is this to be expected. Cheers.

Welcome onboard the e30 addict site:)

Could be the baulk ring going, boxes are cheap anyway, if you can do the work yourself of course. Generally not worth doing work on a gearbox, just get one from the scrappies.

Thicker oil or sawdust should cure it in the short term
