hi pegs,

sent you a text message a while ago regarding this. havent had much luck with my research, but it looks like you may have to remove the whole steering column just to get the lock off! and that will make the car immobile, so it may be best to leave it till last or not to do it at all.
i looked on my coupe and it seems pretty straight forward to remove the door locks - they have spring tensioned clips that surround the inners of the locks, when removed the lock should just slide out.

experiment with the passenger side, as its the drivers side im after!

however, i have been told there is some difficulty surrounding the 4 door models in regards of taking the locks out intact - apparantly its more tricky and to get in invloves taking off the plastic sheet on the inside of the door.

the alternative is to do what the jackass that took my passenger lock apart did - cut it out... w*nker.

if anyone has any experience regarding this matter, your input is much appreciated.

best of luck mate,

adil

Door locks come out by sliding a securing clip sideways
Never removed an ignition lock, but it's supposed to involve turning the key to position one I think, and inserting a small rod into a hole on the barrel face.

that sounds more like it - try turning it to position 1 and pulling it out. makes more sense.

Regarding door lock barrels- The door card has to be taken off, there is a big plastic lining and smaller one about 5inches by 2 inches across. Remove that, its just sticky, so pull it off carefully and it will re-apply without further glue.

Now you will be able to see the back of the barrel, you may want to take off the bigger plastic sheet that covers the entire door card to allow more light in??

There is a big cirlip that fits around the barrel that you just prise off, its fairly obvious which way when you look at it-Use a fairly tough long screwdriver. The circlip comes towards the door handle, if that makes sense.

The barrel with now be loose, and it will come out the front of the door with a little bit of wiggling, being careful not to scrap the paint!

To make the whole thing easier you might want to remove the operating rods, but you have to try and remember where they all go as re-fitting them in the right places can be a bit mind boggling.

I hop the above is clear and informative, any problems pm, email or post on this board

Cheers
