Dodgy Dash And Blowers
Moderator: martauto
Been raining heavily for a day now, and used my car 2day and the dash seems a bit iffy, no rev counter, fuel and temp gauge, and only the bat light on start up.
Is this most likley water in the ecu area or wiring loom????
Or anything else i should check??
Cheers

had a look just a min ago, opened up the big connector plug, all seems gd, but gave it a spray wid wd anyway. When initialy started the dash gauges work for a split sec then drop off in a few sec, rev counter on da longest. Only the batt light comes on at ignition then goes out, also today the batt light started flickering, im prety sure its to do wid damp. AAny other places to look? the wires goin thu bulk head seem dry????

Haha, yeah rite. Think id rather she was out the way tho.lol
4got to say that the blowers dont work either, think it stopped bwt same time. Nor dus the rear window de mister but that didt when i got the car. All seem 2 be in order from what i can see with the wireing, well from wot i can make out as its had a engine conversion. Still havent had a lok at the dash yet tho. Where else mite the damp have affected as its not just a fuse. Any relays to check?? all fuses in engine bay r gd.

It all worked when i got the car, seemes to be since heavy rain, but may just be coinsidence. Will get the dash pod out this weeekend as iv nioticed service lights not working aswell now. I think i will keep the gf out the way all the same, she only moans and asks if i fin all the time!Ok, just read the post again, you say it has had an engine conversion? From what to what? Was it originally an early motor and now has a later motor in it? If this is the case, the revcounter and econometer might not have been connected as there are wiring differences in the engine management loom.

Just taken my clocks out and checked the batteries, each giving out just over 3v. Sarted to look for maybe a bad connection and noticed that where the screws go in to hold the speedo in place suomeone has used longer screws which have gone through and broken the board, cutting 3 tracks. IM guessing this is the prob. So will head to the scrappy 2 hopefuly find a new 1! very annoying tho!
My blowers are also still not working, Would this be related in any way? or shall i start having an investigation into that aswell?
Cheers

Found that it is related, also my mirrors dont work, but when i turn the ignition to starter and initially for a sec or to after starting everything works?? I read on here sum probs may be caused by the little wire on the starter not being connected, could it be this?
Really need to get sorted as windows steeming up now its cold out

Pull up the gear lever gaiter, find the two pin plug and socket in the wire that goes underneath the car through the gear lever rubber grommet, pull it apart, and see if this cures the fuse blowing.
Still dont seem to be having any luck with this problem. Have tryed fidling with all the wires i can get to inside the car with the ignition on, but it doesnt affect it. is it poss for a relay to caue it? any other things it mite be. Cheers

It probably means that the loom underneath the car, that goes to the reverse light switch on the gearbox, has perished insulation or has become unclipped and is touching the propshaft.
If you want help from me in solving your problems, you have to do EXACTLY what I say and nothing else, and report back accurately, and preferably, in a short space of time (otherwise I'll have forgotten what the problem was, and have to read back through whole threads, which I don't have time to do!)
