The cranks are all the same, the year may only affect the car if it is an 87-88 super eta, in which case the pistons and the head are different to normal eta's. These super etas have very similar piston and combustion chamber shapes to a 2.5 so they make good 2.7's

Not sure yet m8.
New it was a bargain so scooped it immediately.
thinking of buying another sport or an se thats needing work done to it and use the head and block , 320 rods , shrick cam ,bbtb, zone chip , manifold , exhaust.
As i said not sure though as i'm just gathering info on what i need and how to do it.
Not in a hurry so hopefully can pick up a few more bargains and keep the cost down

You'll need to deck the block by 3mm (approx) and have the skirts of the 2.5 pistons machined so they clear the counterweights on the crank. And you'll need a vernier pulley to set the timing right after you have decked the block.

I have been told by my local machine shop that machining pistons it not cheap as they are quite fiddly and require a lot of setting up so they are all identical.
