When putting my foot down in the motor, it's smoking when i'm reaching the higher end of the rev's, it only does this when I put my foot down though?? Any thoughts...it's done a fair few miles 195,000 to be exact and is tappy from cold, but I have always maintained with regular oil changes and it's had the chain, sprockets and all the other gubbins done at about 100,000 from the main dealer since i've had her and i've had her for 10 yrs now......I have had things in the pipeline, but just ain't had the time to do them, most notebly a decent overhaul of the engine, is my engine poorly

Guys,
When putting my foot down in the motor, it's smoking when i'm reaching the higher end of the rev's, it only does this when I put my foot down though?? Any thoughts...it's done a fair few miles 195,000 to be exact and is tappy from cold, but I have always maintained with regular oil changes and it's had the chain, sprockets and all the other gubbins done at about 100,000 from the main dealer since i've had her and i've had her for 10 yrs now......I have had things in the pipeline, but just ain't had the time to do them, most notebly a decent overhaul of the engine, is my engine poorly
some advice would be greatly appreciated....Lastly my brother has an 318is too, with about 65,000miles less on it than mine, but side by side, mine does not feel any slower than his, if anything he seems to think that mine has a slight edge over his
What do you guys think???

I think it's time your brother had his iS looked at. An iS should eat a 318i alive, especially a high milage one, where the cam is likely to have worn.Pal318is wrote:Guys,

What colour is the smoke?
White = water, blue/grey = oil, black = excess fuel.

IT might be the Rings as the M42 is a high compression engine which when at high RPM might be producing blow back and burning oil.

What rings are you talking about Demlotcrew?? It is burning a fair bit of oil at the moment too. But like I was saying only when I put my foot down and reach the higher end of the rev counter??
Thanks Demlotcrew..
