Hi
I need some help with my stereo connection for the electric ariel.
I have connected some universal connectors and the stereo powers ups and all speaker work fine, however i can not work out where the blue wire (see picture) connects too.
Its suppose to connect to a white wire however i can't find one, can you help?

No expert but the way i understand it it feeds it with a very small elecrical current or just a quick pulse when you turn the radio on to tell the aerial to go up and then vice versa to make it come down again

So what do I connect the blue wire in the bottom of the picture too?

its hard to say your wiring does not look standard so who knows what does what anymore! far to many choccy blocks and random wires for me to say, if your head unit has a remote for an amp you can use that.

Put a pic up of the wires that come out the back of your head unit and i may be able to help you

I've connected the choccy blocks to universal connectors to make it easier for me to swap between head units in the future, but yes i do agree wiring does look odd had a bit of job wiring the speakers up!

Having looked at it again i would try the short blue wire coming out of the ISO connecter in the top pic

The blue wire at the bottom of your pick is the line for the electric aerial.

If you have one fitted it sends the signal from the head unit to tell the aerial to extend/retract. If you have an electric aerial fitted it will have 3 wires, an earth, a permenant live and an intermittent live. The blue wire connects to the intrermittent live of your aerial. (you will need to "jack" the permenant live in somewhere or you will have to turn the head unit off every time you turn the car off).

Without knowing what colour wires come from your aerial it's impossible to say exactly what to connect it to so I'd have a look in the boot and it should be fairly easy to figure out.

The white wire from the boot should be half of a parallel twin wire, and the other half is red. The red wire goes to a pin of the accessories socket behind the glovebox, so if you look there, you should be able to find the white. It requires 12 volts on it all the time you require the aerial extended. Remove the 12 volts and the aerial should close.
The twisted pairs (speaker wires) and the loom that is lying in the bottom left hand corner of the radio aperture, and possibly the antenna wire are the only BMW wires in your pic.
Light blue in the BMW wiring is a road speed signal for speed controlled volume.
You'll have to consult your radio instructions to determine which is the aerial control wire.

Yes, if the radio has this function. Signal comes from the green socket on the back of the instrument cluster, if it's fitted. If not, the end of the wire can be glued or taped into the pin socket.
