hi all

recently purchased a 1990 320i (has the m20 engine) with low miles its got 86000 on the clock and runs great only issue with it is in the morning when i start it up or leave it for a long period of time, it starts and the rev counter swings from between 700 up to about 1500 back and forth, and it sounds like its misfiring, it does this for approximately 20-30seconds or so, then calms down and goes back to normal any ideas what might be causing this?

Check the connector on your AFM and the connector on your Throttle Position sensor. Had same problem and checking those connector's helped me.

Hope someone else can find some pictures, but there is a connector on the AFM, right under it, it's black, you should see the wires, check that it is clean and plugged in. The other is not far from that one, check the same there.
