please help! i serviced the car today and its much smoover but every now and again theres a wee "hic-up", its as if i take my foot off the throttle for a second then press it again. its happened 3-4 times in about 50 miles. could it be something to do with the rotor arm or dizzy cap ive fitted, or just coincedence its started happening now? apart from that its running sweet. any common things that could cause it?
its a 318i m40
cheers

If you have a new cap and arm then look else where.

new doesnt always spell good,i put six new spark plugs in once and it wouldnt run,i checked everything thinkin it cant be the plugs, theyre new,but 5 out of the six were faulty! and the best bit was i couldnt get a new set until the old ones had been returned to bosch and checked! if in doubt put your old everything back on and try it,then change one thing a day so you can test it,process of elimination!

i think shes wondering why the hell im crouching down in the middle of the carpark  !

the old arm and cap were well dodgy lookin, and only one screw was holding the cap on, the other two brackets were broke :? . i''ll try new leads when i get paid next week and see if that helps

Just test them it's a lot cheaper.
and if you have any other relays try swapping them they could have tarnished contacts

Does it happen at a certain RPM ?
Could be the air flow meter has a bad track at a point in it's travel.

It's best to narrow down the options and track the fault or you could end up spending a fortune on replacing parts that don't need changing.

I bet she's a cheap date

i have read about this car park dogging over there in uk, so THATS what it is!!! doessn't seem too seedy!!! Hmm ths gives me an idea for a pointless thread!!

oh yeah may be a long shot but disconnect battery for an hour or two and re-connect, then start and idle for five mins, sometimes an ECU glitch.
