a 10w-40 is fine so is a 5w-40 this offers slightly better cold start protection
e30s arent that fussy with oil, semi synthetic is better althouh i read that brianmooores touring has done 200,000 miles on non synthetic oil
i recently purchased 5l of 10w-40 from wicks bargin bin for £1.46 Bargin
and will be putting that in mine, oil has came on a long way since these engines have been built
