Hello, I changed the front control arms on my 318is last year, and its been lowered 40mm, but im getting crazy tyre wear on the insides of each front tyre. Its on standard issue bushes at the moment, I was going to go with M3 ones but didnt as I was worried about tyre wear!

Is there anything blantatly obvious that is causing this? The car isnt silly low.. and the tyre pressures are good, infact I have been keeping them at around 35psi recently to try stretch out the wear!

Also, what are peoples experiences like with polybush rear beam bushes? I am starting to think my ones might be worn again, as the back of the car feels wallowly and you get a sensation of axle tramp if you pull away spinning. It gets driven quite hard and has been known to attended the odd drift day and sprint day every now and again, so I guess I cant complain about the standard ones not lasting that long.

Thanks!

Have you ever had an alignment check done?

No alignment check yet, didnt think there was much in the way of adjustment.

It doesnt pull at all, it used to pull under braking but since a disc and pad change its all sweet.

If your tracking is out then that will be causing excessive wear

40mm drop shouldn't cause them to wear too much.

It's easy to see if the rear bushes are knackered or not, so have a look at them and if they don't look mutilated then I'd spend £40 on an alignment check and see where you go from there

Any front end bush/ball joint/ suspension work ideally needs an alignment check afterwards, preferable 4 wheel laser stuff. Its cheap and make your tyres last longer than a week. :D

Furry muff, I'll get that done next week then.

The beam bushes dont look that bad, they are not that old. Its just the cars got its wallowy feeling back again, Its all new stuff back there, everything BMW apart from the.... beam bushes. :o:

Owned.
