Hi all

Fitted the lovely new radiator I received from Spadge.. easy job to fit..

Followed all advice for bleeding the coolant system.. so I'm getting no bubbles after opening the thermostat bleed screw, but something aint right..

The system is massively pressurising under the rad cap.. the pipes are so hot to touch.. really hot.. the car is overheating straight away and no getting any hot air out of the blowers.. however.. I dont even know whether they blow out hot air or not.. having never tried them since I bought the car.

Stupid question time.. after running the car up the temperature is it normal for the coolant to pour out of the header tank?

Cheers

At the back of the cylinder head.
Fill the coolant bottle, and remove the top heater hose on the bulkhead stub to allow a little coolant to flow out along with the air.

With or without engine running?

I did mine without it running. Had visions of lots of mess and burnt hands doing it with engine running but I may be wrong!

I parked uphill with nearside on the kerb to raise the header tank.

Leemc2009 - do it with the cap off btw (nothing really comes out if the cap is on).

Good news - let's hope it stays like that. Having similar probs with mine and the heater stops working every two weeks! :(

Just to point out the issue I had.

I thought the system was being bleed but..... I removed the bleed screw and thought lot's of water should come out.

The hole was blocked and after stabbing it with some thin wire lot's and lot's of air came out! DO this with gloves on and engine over before stabbing!

Once the thermostat opened I cracked open the bleed screw.. air bubbles came out at first.. closed it.. then opened again and continued till only water came out.. seems to be sorted now so I'm not playing with it anymore! 8)

I dont think I'd like to stick anything down there..

Keep an eye on your coolant level for the next few days...

Yep.. :) I have to go out tonight so will check before I go.. I dont think my coolant level light works... it didnt light up even with empty header tank.
