Hi, wondering if anyone can help, as the title I have a water leak coming from the cooling system. It comes from the small plastic pipe which sits under the inlet manifold. On the cooling system diagram on realoem it doesnt have a part number. Its the part which hose 4, 23 and 14 attach (cant post the picture). Does anyone know what the part number is or does anyone have one that I could buy? Any help would be much appreciated thanks! (hope this makes sence)

Hi there, if you post a thread about this in the 'OEM Parts' section (at the top of the page) and basically tell them what you said above, they will more than likely be able to provide you with the correct part at the correct price.

With rubber hoses its usually best to replace them with genuine new ones so I'd recommend contacting the OEM Parts people at Cotswold BMW (above link).

The pipe you're describing sounds like one of the pipes to/from the throttle body heater plate which was a later addition to the M42 engine to prevent the throttle body freezing in extreme cold temperatures. A number of M42 owners have simply removed this heater plate from between the throttle body and the inlet manifold and joined the coolant pipes together. People claim this improves the throttle response at higher RPMs but others are sceptical. If this interests you, do a search on here or on M42club.com

Hope this helps...
