Ive built a heat shield for my pipercross cone..what a waste of time..i didnt think to do the underneath as heat rises and i would of thought will disepate(spelling)...the cone sits on top of the fookin alternator which gets farkin hot!...so basically it can have all the HOT air it wants which is just useless..and where the hell you surposed to put a cold air feed..bought the tube..3'' allie but cant find anywhere to put it so i get a nive cold air feed on the move..dam engine is so conpact..

HELP/ADVISE..where is yours what have you done..asked before but no-one helped or knew..ther must be someone who has cones and cold air getting to em

-------------------------------
SECOND PART:

this is a very ''wide spread question'' i know but i got a Zone chip, the cone filter, apart from that everything is standard and i HAVE a CAT..

if i start rolling and floor it..it wont spin..again..widespread question.loads of diff scenarios i know but does this sound the norm...even in slippery conditions,it very hard to spin unless i build revs and drop the clutch obviouslly..

Yes its 2.5 yes its straight 6 and im allways sticking up for outher zoners when they ask the same question BUT this car really dont do nothing untill 3k RPM..then its good...really good! but the initial foot to the floor time SUX! big time..

It will have a zorzt on soon without the CAT which should give me a lil more bottom end grunt...not to sure how much though..

everything is clean,TB,AFM etc & new plugs..been on krypton..1 cylinder is a bit down at cold but then goes fine after temp starts to rise..nothing major..its had more carb cleaner down it than petrol lately to get that crap if any of the injectors..

THINK i need to get it on a Rolling Road to get an idea i guess..

SO question...

What sort of power you got when you floor it ONCE you start to roll and without builing revs and dropping clutch??

Where have you put a cold feed for yer air filter at? .. and do i need to modify this heatshield so its doesnt get that crappy air from the alternator..are the custom ones built like that? has anyone got one for the e30 and is the bottom inclosed..

cheers

Can't help you with the low end power question as I don't have a 2.5. My motor is a 2.7 and has loads of torque, so much so that in the wet it's hard to get any grip below 3rd gear

The heat shield will need to be fully enclosed to keep the heat from the alternator at bay, the plastic shield behind the nearside headlights has an attachment for feeding cold air to the standard airbox. You could adapt this for directing cold air to the cone filter.

Also not so helpfull but in my 323i with full exhaust, 6 branch, standalone EMS and 4.1 LSD I can use as much throttle as I like through the whole rev range in the dry and it won't spin a wheel at all on dry bitumen unless there is gravel or something on the road and I am going around a very tight corner. Even on wet bitumen it takes at least 3/4 throttle and have a few rpm to get it to wheelspin around a corner and I'm not sure if it would at all in a straight line without a clutch dump.

Hmm.sorted now..

Bought some sheet steel today from a Welding store..and a piece of alluminum strip for a bracket...

made basically a 'U' shaped heat shield which went under the Cone around and above...the only side thats open is the side near the water filler bottle..

i then cut away a square from the cover thats next to the Rad..there i put my Square shaped air intake...so now i got a nice flow of COLD air to the cone which is more or less free from heat...

notice the difference in power already..no air flow and heat from the engine wasnt exactly doing my lump any favours..
