I have the chance of a 1984 525 5 door bm with a good engine (90k) plus good gear box and diff etc for free but will any of the above bits fit a 1991 325 i sport ? I don't want to waste my time stripping the car if they won't fit. If anyone can help please give me a shout

Thanx Zip

Very big difference.
525i used the M30 big six engine, 525e used a strangled M20 engined, but 2.7 litre. Mix with a few 320 bits, and you get an engine pushing 200 bhp.

The car must be a 525i as the log book says 2994cc !
Mine is a ex culb members car a white sport with a 2.7 bexly motor works conversion ( VIB6934 ) this has a M20 thunder bolt engine not the big six ! it also has a close ratio box and LSD - so do you think nothing will fit ? it was worth a try as it was free to me !

Does any other member need any bits from this car ? or do they want the car ? let me know im in the North East ( Darlington )

Typo?
The diff will fit an E30, with a change of back cover and output shafts.
Depending on ratio, may be of use to someone with an E36 gearbox.

Might be interested in parts if you're going to break.

No - the 525i has to go from its current home and i wondered if any of the bits fit mine !! as the gear box in mine rumbles a bit on tick over but its okay I have been quoted Ԛ£400 to have the lay shaft bearings re-newed! Always handy to have some spares around for free as i have the space. Still don't know if the gear box will fit ??? the engine and diff was a bonus if they were same.

Zippy most sport gearboxes chatter at idle it's nothing going wrong! just change the oil on it when it needs it. Mine chatters and it did when i bought it on 66k!

Alright zippy. Remember me?? Love the bexley beemer. I aint seen a dyno plot to verify the output but lets just say it left my 205 Mi16 for dead at Croft recently

If you need a hand to shift the 525 then give me a shout. Cheers mucka...

simon 13 Thanx for that it makes me feel a lot better as i have done about 2k in it and its been fine including a track day around croft whoopin cossies ! but it sounds bad on tick over ! can you give me a clue on oil to use for the gear box ?

Jimmi - you know you want a beamer there is a silver k reg owners car for sale for around 5k but he will take offers- go on do it ! you know french cars are a liitle bit tempremental and not as fast ! your mi205 is really fast to a ton but after that it will self destruct !

Have no dyno to prove it but some of the cossies i passed had over 300bhp but they smoked well ???

I hope for that price they replace the clutch as well 8O
Mine rumbled for 2 years before the bearing finally went. Mind you, it still drove even then.
This was all that was left...
