Being 1990 on a 'G' then it shouldnt have a Cat, but if it does you can take it out with no worries.
I dont know much about the 318is so Im not sure if yours will have an LSD or not, was most likely an option from new, but I dont think the age of the car has anything to do with it.
What mods you got planned for it??

thanks mate, good news about the cat, hope it does have an LSD!
well iv already put ebc greenstuff pads and turbo grooved discs on, and an H n R cup kit and powerflex bushes. iv also got an mtec 2 kit to going on it and smoked the lights and uprated the bulbs. the interior hass got an alpine head unit and mtec 2 wheel, gearknob pedals handbrake mats and door pins. also got an e36 rack conversion in progress. Sitting on 17inch Oz Superturismos with yokahoma rubber.
On the engine front, im taking it in fo rmy college course for a year, so im guna have dyno's and loads of brand new equipment at my disposal. im basically skimming the head, port polishing the inlet manifold, replacing gaskets spark plugs leads etc, fitting viper chip and big bore throttle body, full supersprint exhaust system including manifold, spresso head gasket, power boost valve and replacement K n N filter..
Been saving since i was 15 for it lol
what you running buddy?

Sounds like you got a good project going there.
If you can get a dyno of it as it now and then again as and when you add/do bits like the manifolds, chip and BBTB, then you will get a good idea of what mods are best - but I guess you will be doing that as part of your college course. It will also help fellow 318is owners on here too.
You better get some pics up of your motor as well.

Mine is (or was) a 325i Sport. Its standard on the outside and the inside, but it does have an E36 M3 3.0ltr motor under the bonnet, just got to get the bl**dy thing going.318-is wrote: what you running buddy?

Like I said, I dont know much about the 318is, but I reckon they respond pretty well to the right mods. Should definitely be of interest to other iS owners.
Yeah, the E36 motors fit. Its just a bit tight. Theres a couple M50/M52 engined cars on here as well as other S50s, ones that run too!
Ian332isport has the 3.2 Evo motor and I think Gunni is running the 3.0ltr. And theres some other projects on the go (like me) and some just getting underway.
And dont forget Karans E34 M5 engined E30 and Glenns E39 M5 V8 E30!!
I have no idea on the BHP mine will have. It should be 286bhp as standard, but I dont know if they ever reached that from BMW. Mine does have a few altered bits to make it fit and custom exhaust with no Cats, but I dont how this will effect the bhp. Just have to wait untill I get it on the rollers.
As for why it wont start - I have a few ideas.
Lack of oil cooler and exhaust manifold are the main offenders
Just got to get those sorted and it should be all go

My 318iS had a cat as standard which was also a 1990/G
As for LSD, do a simple wheelspin and see if u have 1 or 2 tyre marks
