How do you undo viscous fan coupling, keeps turning

i'am trying to undo viscous fan coupling and the spindle thing behind just keeps turning with it, turning the alternator etc.

how do you stop this from turing

Hit the spanner HARD with a hammer. Reverse thread, don't forget.

if you hit the viscous fan spanner then it should undo remember its left hand thread . too slow typing

i relise its reverse thread, but it just keeps turning, the belt also makes a noise when car is running as its a bit loose but it looks like the alternator is "pulled out" as far as it goes to tighten it

i will try the hammer approach

no use belt just keeps turning with ease

needs the shock treatment mate, see if you can wedge the pulley in any way just to add the extra bit of resistance and just try and whack it a few times to shock it.. !

just been and bought some new belts so i will fit them and see if i can tighten it up any more

Well done, I had a similar problem too!

car no longer overheats in traffic, although at the same time i discoved that the radiator is well shagged

it makes a bit of a hissing sound after a run out, and car seems to be using a small amount of water so i assume that its the rad now






going to replace all hoses, thermostat, and rad
