make sure you have the right amount of transmission fluid in the box

Have you changed AFM or changed from Motronic? I had to abandon a change to MBE because it wouldn't talk to the gearbox. Check throttle position switch. Check connections from gearbox ECU and connection block on side of gearbox. Did you have gearbox out? If so, did you lock in the torque converter with geabox upright?

Why have you fitted an Auto box I never understand why cars with powerful engines are fitted with an auto it's like choking the power output, wouldn't you rather make it a proper driving machine witha manual box?

The majority of Motorsports came with the autobox in fact a manual one is very rare. The 2.7 conversion with the massive torque increase you get is a perfect match for the switchable auto. If you like autos, and lots of us do, this is probably the best car in the world. Have you tried a 2.7 auto with over 200 bhp and 220 torque? Seamless and awesome power.

You don't know what your talking about, and it's clear to see that you don't know how to drive an auto otherwise you'd know that the only bad thing about them is a bit of a slow pull off. But once your moving it's sooooo much better!!!stappin wrote:Why have you fitted an Auto box I never understand why cars with powerful engines are fitted with an auto it's like choking the power output, wouldn't you rather make it a proper driving machine witha manual box?
What do you do when you just want to chill and just take it easy? Can you just put it in D and just cruise?
NO!
You have to p!$$ about with the gears all the time. Once you get converted to auto's mate you'll never go back!

I broke the oil pump.
So i got a garage to take the box out and then had to take it to another to get the new oil pump fitted Ԛ£188.
Gave the gearbox back to the garage and then started it tonight, but it's a no go. It seems to pop into gear for a moment, but there is just no drive.
I'm starting to get very pi$$ed
Any ideas guys?

Sorry to hear that mate. I made a comment earlier about fitting the torque converter to the box while the box is standing upright on its rear end. Thats the only way it will lock in properly. If this isn't done properly the result is usually a broken pump. Is your garage putting it together properly? Cos it sounds like its happened again.

I told them what to do when i took the box back to them. They have assured me they have done it correct.
It gotta be something else.
But..... if they have broke it i'll get them to get the box fixed again.
I'm just so disappointed as the engine just is so smooth and sounds so sweet, like my old e46

who diagnosed a broken oil pump u or the garage?
sorry chu don't know much about those boxes except they break a lot (had one in my m535i and had to remove it and put a manual in eventually).
you probably know anyway but they don't like the engine being reved when not in drive, burns the clutch packs out apparently because the oil pump's not being driven. did u do this when u got the engine running?
just wondering if the problem is something else.
thinking off the top of my head but can u check the oil pumps operation by removing the oil cooler lines to the radiator to see if fluid's being pumped when in drive and engine reved (rear wheels in the air)??
anyway well done getting that engine finished, was in lot of bits when i saw it at gsf!! if it's as good as an e46 then it's pretty good

Looks like the gear selector rod just needed adjusting and more fluid was required. Must have been some air in there.
As for driving it, all i can say is: WOW i've never been in a car which has been so smooth! and i've drove quite a few cars as i used to be a mechanic.
I couldn't be happier with how the engine has come out.
