As I got a new radiator for my E30 318iS, I decided to also replace the old radiator cap. The original one has a 140bar rating(yellow insert in cap), but the one I ordered based on the part number in the ETK has a 200bar rating(black insert in cap).

Which is the correct one to use for the 318iS? I know that my old 316i had the 140bar rating one.

Don't want to fit the new cap till I'm sure.

Thanks,
Kevin.

I'm 99.999999% sure all the Bm's should now be using the yellow 140 cap, and i think it's 140 psi not 140 bar...

If in doubt fit the lower pressure one to be on the safe side.

This was part of a major recall a few years back

I think you'll find it's 1.4 bar! 140 bar would be a tad on the high side.
AFAIK, all E30s should have the recall cap with the yellow insert.
The safety aspect of the recall was the heater being damaged by excess pressure and spraying superheated water onto front seat occupants.

Thanks guys, I'll bring it back and get the yellow capped one. I was thinking it would be the safer one to use myself, but thought I'd run it past you guys.

The cap reads '140' so this must be 140kPa, got my units wrong
