The Central locking on my E30 has packed up. The drivers door key is very stiff to move and I can't lock the car using it. The passenger and boot lock smoothly using the key.
The alarm will not lock or unlock the central locking either.
What is the likely cause for this, is it a solenoid in the drivers door if there is one? If not how easy is it to repair?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks very much. I'll try the wiring system out.
I cant seem to find any details on the forums about the central locking ecu, any ideas where it is?

Do the above search fella and you'll find it. The central locking module is in the behind the speaker cover in the drivers footwell.

Ta very much, I'll look this weekend.
This is what mr Brianmoooore was referring to.
There is a modification that can be done to the wiring to rule out any problems with corrosion in the door multi plug
