overheating 325i stationary

hello thought id rack a few brains before i whip me engine to bits -got a 325i touring manual that when stood in traffic or idling starts to get warm -no loss of coolant or emulsifying etc ?????coupling appears ok so does rad ????any pointers.just started aaarrgghh.would probably go into red if allowed but drving cools it back down??

Are you sure the viscous fan is ok?

Try stopping the fan with a rolled up newspaper. If it shreads the paper, it's good. If it stops the fan, get a new 'un.

You'll need a slim 32mm spanner to remove it. Left hand threads too !!!

Give us a shout if you need one as I may have a spare going about..

i can say couplin is a duff ,just took her for a blast got warmed up come back let tickover for a while about 90 degrees,shoved the ad-mag in and no resistance whatsoever,hmn do they go overnight-must do.so need a coupling ah well :eek:
