changeing spark plugs on 316i

sound stupid but how do you get the leads off? was giving the car a service this evening but i couldnt for love nor money get the leads off, is there something more to it then just giving them a tug?? i thought i was going to pull the engine out if i pulled much harder.

Start the car up put it into first and drive it to your nearest garage if you cant get the leads off thats if you are able to drive

Pull harder, If they've corroded onto the lugs then you'll want to replace them anyway. Obviously there comes a time when you don't want to pull the plug through the threads, at which point you'd need to start cutting the lead away until you can get the spark plug socket on the spark plug. They're pretty strong threads though as you'd expect.

i dont have new leads at the moment to replace them as they was out of stock, so ill just have to give them a proper tug when i have new leads. only reason i ask is because i was pulling on them stupidly hard and i didnt know if i was missing something and didnt want to break the leads as i had no others to replace them.

possible they have corroded on, i cant find any service history on the car for the past 9 years

Leads don't normally need replacing - ever! But yours will if you pull on the leads rather than the cap!
Wriggling them around should free the corrosion, however badly they are stuck.

i had the same problem leads were tight but as mr mooore said give them a wiggle and they'll pop off no problems
